实验室一直注重开展广泛的国际合作和交流，把多种形式的国际合作和交流和实验室的科研实践活动有机结合起来，使之成为宣传实验室成果的重要渠道，国际合作与交流也是了解国际上环境学科前沿发展的重要途径。
2017年，国内外学术交流继续加强。本年度实验室稳步推进与东英吉利大学（University of East Anglia）、伍兹霍尔海洋研究所（Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution）等海外科研机构的交流与合作。双方在共同申请研究课题、合作培养研究生等方面取得长足进步。4月17日，日本熊本县立大学张代州教授来访进行学术交流；11月3-8日石金辉、祁建华、高阳、刘晓环四人访问日本熊本县立大学，研讨利用双方的观测站点进行针对长距离传输过程中东亚大气气溶胶物理、化学、光学以及生物特性等方面变化的合作研究计划。
本年度48人次在国际会议上进行广泛的学术交流，邀请国内外学者来访交流20余人次；派出青年访问学者4人、高级访问学者3人在欧美知名高校进行合作研究。营造了良好的学术氛围，进一步扩大了重点实验室的影响，促进了学术交流。
